A NEW network has been launched to bring together childminders across Tameside.
The Childminding Network aims to provide support and opportunities to exchange ideas with like-minded people, in what can be an isolating profession.
It was launched recently at Stalybridge’s East Family Hub, which was attended by Ofsted-registered childminders who look after children from six weeks old to teenage years.
The network has been created so early years professionals can meet each other and gain support from Tameside Council’s Early Years Quality team, along with partners from Early Help, Public Health and Libraries teams.
At the launch, the team from North West Stronger Practice Hub – ‘Bright Futures’ – talked about all things sensory.
The network will meet every term, with sessions both in person and online so that as many people as possible can attend.
Councillor Teresa Smith, who was recently appointed as the council’s new Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “In what is an often busy and demanding modern world for families, the role of childminders is a necessity to support home life.
“By recognising the dedication and challenges faced by this profession, the Childminding Network is offering an environment where childminders can feel fully supported by teams across the council, as well as each other.”
