ORGANISERS are putting the final touches in place as the countdown to the 12th Tameside Beer Festival continues.
Tameside Rotary volunteers are aiming to make the popular event ‘pitcher perfect’ for the 1,000 plus visitors expected to attend over the two days.
The festival is being held on September 20 and 21 at Hyde Town Hall, with doors opening at midday and closing at 11pm on both days.
Entry will be £3 on the door and tokens will be available to buy, with visitors able to choose from 36 beers, lagers, cider and wine. Hot food will also be available throughout the event.
The local community is being encouraged to come along, sample the beers and raise a glass to help make this year’s event a huge success.
The festival is one of the Rotary’s major charity fundraisers and raised £7,000 for good causes last year.
One of this year’s beneficiaries is Our Kids Eyes, which provides activities and events throughout the year to make a positive impact on the lives of Tameside children and their families.
The other is Go Dharmic, which works to relieve suffering through serving in disasters, advocating for peace, developing schools and alleviating food poverty.
They were chosen by the newly-installed President of Tameside Rotary, Manhar Taylor.
He said: “As we enter the 12th year of this amazing event, I am very hop-timistic that with the continued support of the local community, together with that of local businesses providing vital sponsorship, we will deliver an enjoyable festival which brings the community together and raises vital funds for Our Kids Eyes and Go Dharmic.”

After proving a hit last year, two headline acts are returning to provide evening entertainment, starting at 7pm.
The Potcheen Chasers will entertain visitors on the Friday evening, and the Company of Strangers are lined up for the Saturday night.
