TAMESIDE Hospital’s security team is preparing for an uphill battle – quite literally – in order to support local children.
A group of EQUANS staff at the Ashton-based hospital will be tackling the popular Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge on September 2.
The 24.5-mile hike takes in the summits of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough peaks within the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The money that they raise will go towards providing the hospital’s Children’s Unit with updated sensory equipment, as well as other items for their sensory room.
The sensory room is specially designed, combining a range of stimuli to help babies, infants and children develop and engage their senses.
These can include lights, colours, sounds, sensory soft play resources and aromas, all used within a safe environment.
Security officer Carl Beresford said: “I spoke with the Children’s Unit about our plans, and they were absolutely over the moon that we chose their unit for our fundraising efforts.”
The group have already raised over £500 towards their £1,000 target. If you would like to donate, visit their GoFundMe page here.
