New Audenshaw building extension to be investigated

TAMESIDE Council is investigating after a new structure appeared on an Audenshaw road over concerns it is without planning permission.

The extension to the front of the unit on Droylsden Road, next to Marmaris, has raised eyebrows.

Now the authority is looking into how it got there and whether any rules have been breached.

Tameside Council is investigating after a new structure appeared on an Audenshaw road over concerns it is without planning permission.

On examination, a sign reading ‘Marmaris Coffee Shop’ is visible as work still takes place to fit out what was the existing unit.

And a Marmaris Coffee Shop Ltd company was formed in March, with its correspondence address being next door to the barbers of the same name.

But according to Tameside Council’s planning portal, the only application coming up for that address dates to 2013, when it was known as Rycroft Hair Salon.

And there is reference to black wrought iron railings and gates extending from its front to roughly where this structure ends.

It was approved, however this structure appears very different to what was allowed 11 years ago.

And when asked by The Correspondent, Tameside Council said it is being investigated.

A spokesperson said: “We are reviewing this as a planning enforcement complaint and will investigate accordingly.”

  1. Ridiculous massive new front, completely obscures the signage for the tanning shop next door when approaching from Droylsden . What a shock there is no planning application
