A FATHER and son from Audenshaw are taking time out from fitting kitchens to cycle all the way to Greece in aid of a worthy cause.
Joe Dodd, 47, who runs local business JD Installations, and his 19-year-old son James are currently embarking on what could be an adventure of a lifetime.
They have already pedalled through some picturesque landscapes, including the Rhine River in the Netherlands, as well as through Germany, France and Switzerland.

The route has taken them over the Alps – arguably the most difficult part of the trip – before the pair head through Italy and reach the final destination of Nydri in Greece by mid-July.
With the trip spanning six weeks in total, they will cover an average of 50 miles every day and are camping along the way, while occasionally staying in budget-friendly hotels.
After planning the adventure meticulously, it suddenly dawned on Joe that they could use it as an opportunity to raise funds for a cause close to his heart – The Christie charity.
He explained: “I have witnessed first hand the exceptional care provided by The Christie to those in need. Despite facing financial challenges, the NHS staff consistently deliver outstanding care due to their unwavering dedication.
“By undertaking this cycling challenge, I aim to contribute in my own small way and raise funds for these courageous individuals who provide vital support to those battling illness.”
Joe is keeping his family and friends, including proud wife Lucy, updated on their progress via WhatsApp.
They have already smashed their initial fundraising target and are now aiming to reach £2,500.
