CANDIDATES to be MP for Ashton-under-Lyne can explain why they should get the vote at a hustings event that has been arranged.
St Ann’s Social Club, on Burlington Street in the town, is providing the platform for all six people standing to take the stage.
Workers Party of Britain representative Aroma Hassan has confirmed her attendance for the Friday, June 28 event, which begins at 7pm.
And any or all of Labour’s Angela Rayner, Dominic Hardwick of the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party’s Lee Huntbach, Lizzie Hacking of the Conservatives and Reform UK’s Robert Barrowcliffe, may join her.
A spokesperson from Aroma Hassan’s campaign said: “After nine years as MP for Ashton-under-Lyne, Angela Rayner is facing some local challenge.
“The constituents are looking for a change and not necessarily the change which the Labour Party is presenting.
“The word on the street is that candidates representing the two newer political parties, Reform UK and the Workers Party are making an impression.”
It is not yet known how many of the candidates will attend.

Labour’s Angela Rayner, Lizzie Hacking of the Conservatives, and Reform UK’s Robert Barrowcliffe didn’t turn up. If they’re not bothered, why should we be bothered to vote for them? Vote for Aroma Hassan on the 4th July.
