All the fun of the Gee Cross Fete

ONE of the biggest and most anticipated events in Tameside’s calendar is about to return.

Sunday, June 30, is the date for your diary when the Gee Cross Fete will once again grace the Sam Redfern Green in the heart of the Hyde village.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a fantastic day out from 11am to 4pm – which includes a fun fair, a brass band, a Scruffs Dog Show and many other attractions.

A number of local groups and organisations will also be represented with their own stalls, while food and refreshments will be in plentiful supply.

The new Civic Mayor of Tameside, Hyde Godley councillor Betty Affleck, will be in attendance on the day.

Admission is £3 for adults including one accompanying children, and £1 each for additional children.

The event – which usually attracts thousands of people – has been running for more than 20 years, with the main organisers being the volunteers from Hyde Rotary Club in conjunction with Greater Manchester Blood Bikes.

Proceeds raised are distributed to local charities and community groups.

Among those to benefit in the past are Scout groups, Guides, Police Cadets, dance schools, Emmaus Mossley and Willow Wood Hospice.
