A TEENAGER has sustained “potentially life-changing” injuries following a horrific crash in Droylsden.
Police say a motorbike and a white Q50 Sports Infiniti car, which were travelling on the westbound side of Manchester Road, were involved in a collision.
It happened at around 2.50pm on Thursday, May 9, close to Edge Lane tram stop.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson has said the driver remained at the scene but the bike riders didn’t.
They added that initial enquiries have established that the motorbike was ridden by two people, who both sustained injuries “as a result of the collision and subsequent flames”.
An 18-year-old man presented himself to receive treatment for “potentially life-changing” burns following the crash.
The bike is believed to have “accelerated past traffic close to a police car shortly before the incident”, according to GMP.
While there was no pursuit, the force’s Professional Standards Directorate is reviewing the incident.
Police are appealing for information as they seek to find the second person riding the motorbike.
A statement issued by the force on Sunday (May 12) said: “If you witnessed the incident or saw someone possibly without lower clothing running nearby around the time of this collision, you may have crucial evidence to support our investigation.
“Officers are additionally keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.”
