ALLOTMENT owners opened the doors to the public for their annual fundraising sale.
Before the gates opened at 9am, queues were forming along Mottram Road in Stalybridge.
Volunteers and committee members at Mottram Road Allotments Association cultivated more than 12,000 plants ahead of the two-day on May 11 and 12.
And all proceeds from the sale will help make sure the oasis of calm next to what is a very busy road can be maintained.
More than 80 allotments are squeezed into the site but everyone has got together to make sure this year’s sale is as good as it can be.
“All proceeds go to the association and that goes towards the upkeep, which comes under our remit” said Mark Stones, of the MRAA.
“It’s mainly bedding and border plants. There are a few perennials and a few vegetables”
And the annual sale provides vital funds that keep the Mottram Road allotments in good condition.
Gates open for the sale at 9.00am and the sale goes on until 3pm again on Sunday, May 12. This is a CASH ONLY event
