WORK on the waterways of Tameside has received the royal seal of approval with a visit by Princess Anne.
The sister of King Charles III took a look at the efforts of the East Manchester Community Boat Project at Portland Basin Museum in Ashton-under-Lyne.
The Princess Royal stepped aboard Community Spirit 2, which was renovated after £100,000 was raised – with a diesel engine replaced by an electric motor and runs excursions from the attraction.
And she made the time to speak to each of the select few members in attendance at the event on Friday, May 10.
And Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Tafheen Sharif, was astounded by her, saying: “I had the honour of welcoming Her Royal Highness Princess Anne to Tameside.
“We are very lucky in Tameside to get a Royal visit, all thanks to the amazing work of East Manchester Community Boat Project.
“My Consort and I welcomed Her Royal Highness and her warmth and dedication were so nice to see.
“Thank you to Lord Lieutenant Diane Hawkins for escorting Her Royal Highness on this special trip.”
Why have we not seen any post telling us of her visit, not seen any post about this
