St. Peter’s Ward: The countdown begins as the candidates await the results. With Cllr David McNally’s 13-year tenure for Labour and independent candidate Kaleel Khan’s surging popularity, the outcome promises to be a close one.

The verification process is almost complete here with results of the turnout now appearing.

The highest turnout at this stage is Hyde Werneth with 36.4%

The lowest is Dukinfield ward with a turnout of 24%

We are waiting for three more wards to post the verification results


The verification results are starting to be shared – here we learn what the voter turnout percentage is in each area. Not many appear to be more than 30% at this stage.

He said: “People have concerns about Palestine and we understand that. You may see that in one of the results tonight.

“I accept that, that’s the same across the whole country.
“I’m aware we’re under pressure in one or two seats. We think we’ve a good chance of winning Godley.”

MEET THE INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES
Four independents – Aaisha Ajmal (Ashton St Michael’s), Kaleel Khan (St Peter’s), Philip Fitzpatrick (Hyde Werneth) and Steven Barton (Stalybridge North) – are making an impression in Tameside.
All four are eagerly awaiting the result of their ward – and hopes are high.

THE candidates and ballot boxes are starting to arrive at Dukinfield Town Hall.
The verification process is now underway. Only Tameside Council local election results will be announced at this count with the Greater Manchester Mayoral Count taking place on Saturday (May 4).
Expect results to be announced from 3am onwards.
