TWO TEENAGERS have been arrested following a road traffic collision that saw a car fail to stop close to a polling station.
Much talk at the Tameside local election count on Thursday, May 2 surrounded the events earlier that day in St Peter’s ward, Ashton-under-Lyne.
A 43-year-old woman was taken to hospital after suffering what are described as ‘superficial injuries.’
Apparent footage of an incident in Ashton-under-Lyne, close to Holy Trinity Church, has been circulated on social media and Greater Manchester Police has confirmed the arrests to The Correspondent.
And officers, who confirmed the failure to stop and the arrests of the 18-year-old and 17-year-old, are appealing for further information and anyone with any footage to come forward.
In a statement, GMP said: “Just after 4.30pm on Thursday, May 2, we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian in Ashton Under Lyne.

Here’s some advice, don’t threaten somebody whilst standing in front of their car. The headline makes our as if a car just randomly runs people over but you don’t see the context I bet there’s more to it.
Were you there? Have you actually seen the footage? By what stretch of your fevered little imagination could it be claimed legitimate to run people over? Are you connected with Labour/Tories/Reform by any chance?
I agree Steve. Context being that the lads surrounded the car which made the young drivers nervous so they escaped, the kids were also at fault but the instigators here are being treated like heroes for “chasing” them even though its partly their fault as well.
