Steven Barton (Independent)
MY NAME is Steven Barton and I am standing again in Stalybridge North as an independent candidate at the local elections on May 2.
I am a parent trustee at the town’s West Hill school and I run my own food bank.
We also prioritise children in everything we do – be it beds, food, clothes, Christmas toys, domestic appliances or living conditions.
We also run mental health sessions and courses.
I live in the area I stand and see the issues facing our community first hand. We desperately need change.
We are visibly acting to help the community, 365 days a year and have witnessed issues like fly tipping and the increase in car parking charges.
School crossing patrols are also a major issue. A vote for me on May 2 is a vote for the community.
Jan Jackson (Labour)
REPRESENTING the ward I serve is an honour and privilege. I do not take it for granted.
As a sitting local Councillor, I have built up trust with local groups, organisations, and residents, which I am proud of.
I can be counted on to deliver for residents in Stalybridge North by fighting to retain vital services and making them accessible for residents.
Education is important to me, having two children educated in Stalybridge and now grandchildren growing up.
My role as school governor at Arlies provides an insight into the provision of education, ensuring every child reaches their potential
I have introduced initiatives for the elderly, tackling isolation and loneliness and organised community clean ups to keep our streets and environment clean.
I have made sure events which matter to residents are sustainable by volunteering and drawing down vital funding.
It is about uniting our communities – delivering for our communities.
Lisa Tilbrook (Conservative)
I HAVE lived in Stalybridge all my life and have been looking for an opportunity to be able to try and make a difference.
Having seen Labour destroy our town centre, destroy our Green Belt and continually increase council tax, it is time to vote for change.
In Stalybridge North, there are lots of great community groups and I would look to support these across the ward.
All three of the current councillors in the ward voted to increase our council tax meaning it has increased by 50 per cent in 10 years – I would have voted against any increase.
We have all seen how our town centre has been eradicated over time and I want to support local businesses as much as possible.
If elected, I will work hard on your behalf to improve the area where we live.
