TWO young Futsal player-coaches with Tameside connections have been chosen to showcase their talents in a prestigious European competition.
Oscar Lucas and Kai Lawless both studied in the borough, at Mossley Hollins High School and St Thomas More RC College respectively.

Both Oscar, from Mossley, and Kai, from Gorton, play in the FA National Futsal series for Bolton Futsal Club and are coaches for Tameside-based Sala Futsal Club, which coaches Futsal to children aged six to 16 in both local schools and through weekly evening sessions.
Futsal is FIFA’s official form of small-sided indoor football – a five-a-side game played on a basketball size court – which is well known for being a development tool for footballers.
Oscar and Kai – who also play football for Greater Manchester non-league football team Ramsbottom United – have been included in the Scotland national Futsal team squad for their UEFA Euro 2026 preliminary round of games in the Swiss capital of Bern.
They have three games in four days as the Scots kick off their campaign on Wednesday, April 10, against Malta at the Mobiliar Arena, followed by Switzerland the day after and concluding against Gibraltar on April 13.
The top two teams in the group will then proceed to the main qualifying round, where the likes of England, current holders Portugal, Italy and Spain will lie in wait.
The main round begins in September, where 40 teams will be placed into groups with the opportunity to qualify for the finals in Latvia and Lithuania in 2026.
