TAMESIDE Rotary’s latest campaign highlights that small grants can make a big difference to the local community.
The kind-hearted Rotarians – who are all volunteers – hold various fundraising events throughout the year and the proceeds are then distributed back into the community through good local causes.
When Tameside Rotary’s Santa float toured the borough through December, the generosity of folk raised over £8,000 in donations.
Those funds are now being offered to local groups, charities, clubs, societies and other organisations supporting community life in Tameside, who can apply for up to £500.
Tameside Rotary is keen to hear from a wide range of groups so it can support a broad range of causes striving to make a difference to the community it serves.
Last year, the ‘Small Grants Big Difference’ scheme gave out grants to 25 local community groups.
The money supported a diverse mix of projects – from purchasing defibrillators and developing community gardens to the provision of therapeutic wellbeing sessions and kits for sports groups.
Groups are being encouraged to apply quickly, with the closing date March 31, 2024.
