Tameside calendar competition is open for 2025

A COMPETITION to be part of a calendar which showcases the beauty of Tameside is open now for submissions for the 2025 edition.

The competition has proved popular since it launched in 2023 so organisers Tameside Council, in conjunction with Tameside Community Champions, have confirmed the calendar will be back next year.

The Tameside Through the Seasons calendar encourages local residents to explore their communities and other parts of the area they may not have seen before and capture it on camera.

By taking a shot and submitting it, you could stand a chance of being one of 12 images to feature in the calendar. Take a look at the 2024 calendar here.

Each season has its own deadline: Winter is March 13, Spring is June 12, Summer is September 11 and Autumn is November 6, 2024.

Once entries are received, a panel of judges – including Tameside Community Champions – will select the winners.

A celebration event and exhibition will be held at Portland Basin Museum in Ashton-under-Lyne once again to showcase the winning images.

Councillor Sangita Patel, Tameside Council’s Assistant Executive Member for Culture, Heritage and Digital Inclusivity, said: “It is wonderful to see such a positive project return for another year, as it gives residents the perfect opportunity to get active and explore our greenspaces, beauty spots and hidden gems in the borough.

“From the past two successful calendars, we have seen how there are so many residents with incredible photography skills, and this gives everyone another chance to win a feature in our calendar.”
