Tameside Council cabinet set for another departure?

TAMESIDE Council’s executive cabinet is set to be hit with another change, The Correspondent understands.

It is believed Cllr Leanne Feeley has decided to resign from her role of being responsible for education, achievement and equalities.

The Dukinfield/Stalybridge ward member also sits on the authority’s schools’ forum and its strategic planning and capital monitoring panel.

Her loss, which has not yet been confirmed, will be a big blow to the cabinet headed by leader Cllr Ged Cooney.

And any departure will see a search for a replacement begin quickly.

If the news is confirmed, it will be the second change to the cabinet in little over three months.

In October, Cllr Dave Sweeton was replaced in his position as executive member for inclusive growth, business and employment by Cllr Jack Naylor.

Tameside Council’s executive cabinet next meets on Wednesday, January 24.
