A SENIOR Tameside councillor has been officially exonerated of bullying allegations.
Jan Jackson hit the headlines in December last year when she was suspended by the Labour Party pending an investigation.
But The Correspondent can reveal the Stalybridge North representative has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Firstly, the national Labour Party’s national executive committee (NEC) found in February there was nothing in claims made against her, allowing her to stand in May’s all-out local elections.
This was followed by an independent review board looking at the evidence submitted and checking the correct procedure had been followed.
After several months, that came to the same conclusion as the NEC, clearing Councillor Jackson of allegations made – and the matter will be taken no further.
Despite the outcome, Councillor Jackson is not burying her head in the sand – she knows this issue will be mentioned in the coming weeks.
However, the facts will speak louder than those claims.
Speaking to The Correspondent, Cllr Jackson said: “I’ve been exonerated of all allegations but my reputation and character’s been damaged.
“You shouldn’t be judged as being guilty without a fair trial.
“Justice has been done.”
