Hyde pupils help to feed impoverished children

CHILDREN at a Hyde primary school have shown how kind-hearted they are by raising money to help feed impoverished children.

The pupils of St Paul’s on Turner Lane embarked on a sponsored run and collectively made a fantastic £1062.30.

It was in aid of Mary’s Meals, which feeds over 2.4 million hungry children every day in 18 countries around the world.

Locally-based volunteer Rob White visited the school so the children could present him with a cheque.

To put the significance of their fundraising efforts into context, the money St Paul’s Primary raised will feed 110 children for a whole school year.

It costs £19.15 to feed a child every day for a school year, and Mary’s Meals guarantees that at least 93 per cent of funds raised goes to feed children.

Until January 22, 2024, all donations are being matched by a group of supporters, so £19.15 will actually feed two children for a year.
