A LOCAL community group in Hattersley can now cook up a storm just in time for Christmas, thanks to a brand-new kitchen installed by North West based business Connelly Ltd.
The Horeb Baptist Church set up a parent and toddler group earlier this year after a successful application to the Onward Community Fund, a fund managed by the local housing association to support worthwhile causes in its communities. The group offers young children and their parents an opportunity to get to know each other, and to learn about what is happening in the wider community.
Onward’s Social Investment Specialist Sam Powers helped the Church to set up the group and spotted that they needed a new kitchen to support future activities. Sam approached Onward’s contractor Connelly LTD, who have been working in Hattersley for the past 18 months fitting over 400 new kitchens for Onward’s customers. Now, thanks to the generous donation from Connelly’s, the kitchen has received a complete revamp with brand-new appliances.
Andrew Brown, Director of Housing and Specialist Living at Onward said:
“Hattersley is a close-knit community and we’re committed to working with our partners to support local groups that make a difference. The Horeb Baptist Church is one of these worthwhile causes and we are delighted to be able to support them through the Onward Community Fund and our contractor relationships.
“After helping the Church to set up a parent and toddler group, we spotted an opportunity to work with our contractors to create a new kitchen facility to support the groups that meet there. The new kitchen facility will provide healthy refreshments for those that meet there and take part in activities to support their health and wellbeing.”
Linda Beaumont, Customer & Social Value Manager, at Connelly LTD said:
“Knowing that the new kitchen will help to support the church to deliver community sessions is fantastic! Community really is at the heart of everything we do, we are passionate about making a positive difference to people’s lives.
“We really couldn’t have done it without our supplier Moores Kitchens who kindly donated the materials, and the whole site team who were determined to deliver works on time. Overall, it was a great team effort”
Pastor Mark Jackson, M.A., Horeb Baptist Church said:
“We, the members of Horeb Baptist Church, would like to express our utmost appreciation to Connelly’s for providing us with a new and fully-equipped kitchen. The new kitchen has been a real blessing for us, especially during our weekly mums and toddler group meetings, monthly ladies’ meetings, and weekly gatherings.”
