A BRASS band which has collaborated with household names such as Amy Winehouse, James Taylor and Madness will play a Christmas party special in Mossley.
A group of true brass pioneers, Hackney Colliery Band will round off 2023 in festive style at The Vale on Saturday, December 9 from 7.30pm to 11.30pm.
The highly-acclaimed 12-piece has been described by The Times newspaper as ‘reinventing the brass band format for the 21st century’ by playing a genre-bending combination of brass, reeds, percussion and electronics.

The east London collective released its eponymous debut album in 2011 and played at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in London the following year.
High-energy sets followed at the MOBO, Brit and Mercury Awards, while its 2019 album Collaborations: Volume One launched at a sold-out show at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London.
The Vale, based in the mill on Micklehurst Road, is excited to host the band’s final show of the year.
Johnny Clifford, programming manager at The Vale, commented: “After two amazing years of regular live gigs at The Vale, we are seeing 2023 out on a high with Hackney Colliery Band.
“Mossley loves its brass and there’s been a brass band here since 1841, when the Mossley Temperance Band was formed – so we’re expecting an amazing reception.
“Get your party frock pressed, your dancing shoes on, and join us on the dance floor at our Xmas Party Special for some irrepressible brass bangers.”
Tickets, which are £15 and £12.50 for concessions, are available at https://www.the-vale.co.uk/event/hackney-colliery-band/
