THE golden age of science fiction was celebrated in Hyde town centre on Sci-Fi Saturday.
Families and sci-fi fans gathered in the Market Square to enjoy an array of activities – including the chance to see iconic superheroes, villains and characters.
Councillors from across Hyde were also in attendance on what was a glorious day of rare October sunshine.
The event was organised by Tameside Markets, in partnership with the Hyde Fundraisers group, and coincided with Little Owl’s monthly Artisan market.
POP hosted a Sci-Fi/Superhero Fancy Dress competition on the day and were also presented with a cheque for £200 by the Hyde Fundraisers.
Jackie Francis from POP said: “We were blown away that POP was even considered for the funding. Thank you to everyone who made this such a special day.
“We absolutely adored all the young superheroes that came along. They were so much better with their poses than me.
“Thank you to Hyde Fundraisers for making this such a special day. Great to see our Market Square filled with so many people here for both the SciFi and the artisan market.”
