THE torrential rain didn’t stop people from turning out for the second instalment of an early evening pop-up arts and food event in Ashton town centre.

After a successful pilot, ‘Fridays on the Square’ returned last week and it proved to be another well-attended occasion in Fletcher Square.

The weather didn’t put crowds off in Ashton-under-Lyne

It’s being trialled on the first Friday of every month until the end of the year by Tameside Council.

A selection of street food traders combined with family entertainment, the event provides families with the opportunity to pop into the town centre on the way home or after school and join in with creative and fun activities while enjoying a bite to eat or early evening meal in a welcoming environment.

Ashton Hurst councillor Dan Costello said: “Another great Friday on the Square in Ashton. Despite the questionable weather, a good turnout from the local community to support our town centre!”

The next one will be on Friday, November 3.
