‘Up to 200 cannabis plants’ inside – but unsafe for Police to enter Stalybridge pub

POLICE officers are waiting for the go ahead to enter a disused Stalybridge pub they believe is the site of a cannabis farm.

The Greater Manchester force was called out by an Electricity North West worker on Wednesday, May 24 after they reported unusual usage at the Bull’s Head, on Knowl Street.

They suspect drugs are being grown inside but the condition of the building has so far prevented them from finding out.

Once the structure is made safe, they will go into what they feel is the site of hundreds of plants being grown.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Officers were called by a utility worker to unusual electricity usage at the former Bull’s Head pub on Knowl Street, Stalybridge, on 24/5/23.

“It is believed there may be up to 200 mature cannabis plants inside but the building isn’t currently safe to enter.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue with a visible scene in place.”

The Correspondent understands the pub’s licence was surrendered in June last year.
