AN ASHTON-UNDER-LYNE veterinary practice is set to benefit from a £700,000 refurbishment.
Gourley Vets, on Wellington Road, will undergo the transformation to reconfigure the site and build practice of the future.
For clients and pets entering the building, the reception will be reconfigured to be more spacious, with separate waiting areas for cats and dogs to keep stress to a minimum for these patients.
Internally, the layout will be altered to create five modern consulting rooms, whereas previously there were three.
This will include a dedicated space for nurse clinics in order that new services can be run. This will include healthy pet club checks, weight management and general health enquiries.
Behind the scenes, two operating theatres will be completely refurbished as well as the dedicated dental room to incorporate digital dental X-ray, preparation areas, walk in kennels for larger dogs, isolation unit and staff hub.
The practice is also investing in cutting edge equipment to diagnose and treat its animal patients, in the form of ultrasound, endoscopy, digital X-ray, dental X-ray and specialised ophthalmology equipment.
Gourley will also be given a complete refresh, with new heating and air conditioning installed for patient and client comfort.
Amanda Smith, clinical director at Gourley Vets, said: “As an established veterinary service in the local community we are excited that this refurbishment places us in a position to continue serving the Ashton-under-Lyne area for many years to come.
“Our newly designed building will provide us with a fresh modern practice ready for the future – to represent the veterinary profession’s new modern approach to providing veterinary care.”
The work is expected to take three months and reopen to clients in late August.
During the refurbishment, clients and patients of the Ashton-under-Lyne practice will relocate to Gourley’s Stalybridge, Hyde, Droylsden and Newton Heath clinics, where they will continue to help with appointments, health checks, prescriptions and minor surgeries.
