Suspected stabbing at Hyde pub

POLICE have taped off a large area of Hyde town centre after a man was injured in a suspected stabbing.

The White Lion, on the corner of Clarendon Street and Market Place, is at the centre of the cordon, with a vehicle from the Greater Manchester force standing nearby.

And it has confirmed a man has been taking to hospital with injuries, with another being arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesman said: “Greater Manchester Police were called to the White Lion on Market Place, Hyde at around 4pm today (Thursday, May 18) to reports of a suspected stabbing.

“The extent of the injuries sustained by a man are unclear at this time whilst medical treatment is received at hospital, whilst an arrest of a man has been made in connection with this incident.

“A scene is still in place whilst enquiries continue. Anyone with information that may help are asked to call 101 quoting incident number 2446 of 18/05/2023.”
