PLOTS of murder, twists in the tale and bumbling investigations are set to dominate a theatre as it becomes The Murder Room.
The first production of the 2023 season at Audenshaw’s Guide Bridge sees a wife and lover plot to kill her wealthy husband.
However, the arrival of his dotty daughter and her American fiancé complicates everything.
And an interfering housekeeper, plus a bumbling policeman do not help as they try to solve the mystery.
The ‘loony’ plot of what is described as a ‘spoof British locked room whodunnit’ revolves around Mavis, played by Sue Borg, lover James (Jason Dyson) and their scheme to kill Edgar (Paul Charlesworth).
They seem to have succeeded, but all may not be as it seems.
Susan (Claire White) arriving on the scene with Barry (Simon Turner) in tow throws a huge spanner in the works.
Lottie (Jean Radcliffe) and a less-than-adept member of the Harrogate Constabulary do not help.
Guide Bridge Theatre bosses describe The Murder Room as: “A comic gem with a loony plot, overdrawn characters and clever, fast-paced dialogue.
“Audience members will be rolling in the aisles, whilst the cast members may be rolling each other into graves – or at least trying to.”
*WRITTEN by Jack Sharkey and directed by artistic director and chairman of Guide Bridge Theatre, Carla Stokes, The Murder Room is on each evening from Monday, February 13 until Saturday, February 18 at 7.30pm, with a 2pm matinee on the last day at the Audenshaw Road venue.
