PEOPLE shopping at a Denton store may have noticed something very different – it is much bigger.
For Poundland has opened the doors to its extension.
The shop, on Crown Point North Shopping Park, now has more than 18,000 sq ft of space, about three times the size of a typical Poundland store.

Its growth has also benefitted the local community with 20 new jobs being created, meaning it now employs 55 people.
Opening day on Saturday, December 10 also included a ribbon cutting ceremony and a golden ticket giveaway with a top prize of £100 of vouchers.
Poundland director of retail, Darren Kay, said: “We’ve put a lot of effort into making it a store Denton can be proud of.
“We think customers are going to love the store which has been designed to offer customers more of what they want, from everyday essentials to PEP&CO clothing for the family.
“It goes without saying we make sure we offer amazing value which has never been so important when household budgets are under so much pressure.”
The Denton unveiling was one of eight done nationally by Poundland on what it dubbed Super Saturday.
It said: “The investment in new and enlarged stores is a vote of confidence by Poundland in the UK’s town centres and retail parks and contrasts with the usual high street narrative of gloom.
“Providing work for more than 200 colleagues, including around 160 new roles, the new Poundland stores are bringing new life to locations left empty by other retailers.”
Chief operating officer, Austin Cooke, added: “This investment in towns and cities up and down the country shows our commitment to bringing shoppers more choice and amazing value just when they need it the most.
“Whether it’s daily essentials at a neighbourhood store or choosing from our PEP&CO seasonal clothing range to make Christmas extra special this year, we’re there to help our customers find ways to cope with the pressures on their budgets.”
Ben Wall, Poundland’s director of property portfolio, continued: “It’s been a tremendous task to get these stores ready to open in time for Christmas and it’s a reflection of the dedication and hard work of all the teams involved at Poundland.
“We also owe a big thank you to the contractors who’ve worked tirelessly to help us get the stores ready and to the property agents who’ve been busy behind the scenes to keep the timetable on track.”
