Police appeal after Dukinfield ‘machete’ incident

POLICE are appealing for information after a man was injured in an incident that saw reports of a man carrying a machete walking around Dukinfield.

The victim in his 20s was taken to hospital with injuries the Greater Manchester force said ‘are consistent with a bladed article being used.’

They added: “His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.”

People living close to the Commercial pub on Astley Street said a man was seen carrying a machete on the evening of Saturday, December 10.

It led to concerns something had taken place in the pub shortly after England’s World Cup exit to France but it is understood the fact blood was found near the car park meant the outside was being treated as a crime scene.

And after North West Ambulance Service staff attended, the appeal was made.

GMP said: “We are appealing to members of the public who were on Astley Road or around the area around 9.15pm last night (Saturday, December 10).

“If anyone has any information at all including CCTV footage, mobile footage or images that could assist our enquiries, please contact GMP on 0161 856 9262 referencing incident number 2892 of 10/12/22 or report information via https://orlo.uk/oUk8O Alternatively, you can report information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
