Tameside ready to remember

TAMESIDE will once again pay its respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

From Armistice Day, on Friday, November 11, to Remembrance Sunday on November 13, the borough will see several services and ceremonies.

Soldiers from all around the area have given duty in numerous conflicts, with many who died in battle honoured on memorials in the towns.

Remembrance events in 2021

And they will be remembered at a number of events as the country will fall silent.

Civic Mayor, Cllr Mike Glover, said: “Each November we have the opportunity to remember – and pay tribute – to those who fought for our freedom during the two world wars.

“We also mourn and honour those who have lost their lives in more recent conflicts.
“Today, with our forces still serving around the world, remembrance events are as important as ever and I urge residents to attend the special ceremonies across our borough and to pay their respects to our brave servicemen and women both past and present.”
