BAD weather is starting to kick in with Mossley academy’s match at Ossett United on Thursday, October 20 postponed through a waterlogged pitch.
The young Lilywhites, back in the Education and Semi-Professional Football Academy (ESPFA) after a 12-month sabbatical, have played two games so far.
They kicked off the campaign with a thrilling 7-4 win at Brighouse who led three times in the opening period before Mossley took control of the game.
Mossley were 4-3 ahead at the interval through goals from Kris Alanson, Idris Rahman, Junior Patrick and Adam Omakwu.
They played with more discipline in the second period and added to their tally through Rahman’s second goal, Kian Hepburn and an own goal with Brighouse restricted to one further goal.
But in their opening home game at Seel Park, Mossley were beaten 5-0 by Skelmersdale United, a team mainly comprising second-year students.
Mossley, 4-0 down after 20 minutes, gave a much improved second-half performance and created some good chances.
The fact the Skelmersdale goalkeeper was named in the ESPFA team of the week underlined how well Mossley did offensively later in the game.
The next game is at Runcorn Linnets on Thursday, November 3 with the return against Linnets on November 10, noon kick-off with free admission.
