Rotary drinks to beer festival rearrangement

DRINKERS disappointed at the postponement of Tameside’s Beer Festival can raise a glass to new dates.

The event, which was set to return after two years away, was delayed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

But a new slot has been found and it will take place at Stalybridge’s Civic Hall on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19.

Beer Festival organiser and member of Tameside Rotary Club John Moon said: “We are delighted that we have been able to reschedule this major community fundraiser so quickly and would like to thank all our partners for their support.”

Meanwhile Tameside Rotary’s annual golf day has raised more than £1,800 for Willow Wood.

President Mohammed Shamsul Karim and Golf Day co-organiser Rotarian Andy Williams presented a cheque for £1,836 to Laura Marinelli, Community and Events Fundraiser at the facility.

Mr Karim said: “As soon as you enter Willow Wood you can feel that this is a place filled with loving care, dignity and tranquillity providing invaluable support during the most difficult of times.

“We are proud that we have been supporting Willow Wood for over 20 years and have raised just over £30,000 with our annual golf days.”

Laura added: “We would like to thank Tameside Rotary for their incredible support over the years.

“It is our aim to help everyone who passes through our doors to attain the best possible quality of life.

“We enjoy strong backing from the Tameside community and it is local fundraising activities, such as the Tameside Rotary annual golf day which helps us to continue offering our services.”
