PRIORY Tennis Club has new state-of-the-art LED floodlights after securing £20,000 of funding from the SUEZ Communities Trust.
The new eco-friendly floodlights, which reduce light pollution, cover the four all-weather court and the Kidszone, a mini court.
The funding has allowed improvement to the previous floodlights which were over twenty years old and had become unreliable with spare parts having become obsolete.
Work on the new 400 lux LED lights has just been completed to the delight of the club.
Club chairman Nick Holmes said: “Floodlights are a vital part of our provision to maximise access to the club and participation.
“In summer, it means they support play in poor light conditions until 10pm but it’s in winter that they are essential to enable play when daylight can disappear as early as 4pm.
“The floodlights enable coaching for schools, individuals and groups, social tennis and matches to continue to develop and massively increases our footfall and participation targets.
“The change to LED lights also helps in reducing our carbon footprint while significantly future proofing the club for years to come.
Being awarded this funding from SUEZ Communities Trust to upgrade the floodlights means a great deal to the club and all members.”
Marek Gordon, chairman of SUEZ Communities Trust, added: “SUEZ Communities Trust provides funding awards through its Landfill Communities Fund. We were delighted to be able to offer funding to Priory Tennis Club.”
