Hollingworth community helps herb garden grow

GREEN-FINGERED locals of all ages came together to help plant Hollingworth’s new community herb garden.

The Friends of Hollingworth received a Tameside Community Recovery Fund grant which enabled them to set up the plot at Treacle Gardens for all the village to enjoy.

The community came together and dug in to plant the first herbs, before enjoying cupcakes afterwards.

The group said: “Once the garden has developed the herbs can be picked for cooking and people can enjoy sitting in the two green spaces in Hollingworth.

“We would like to give thanks to Action Together for enabling us to complete this project and a special thank you to Hartley and Lymefield garden centres who provided us with herbs and the villagers who planted them.

“We hope this provides many years of enjoyment.”
