Tameside Captured: looking through your lens

A CHILL in the air in the morning? Condensation on the windows first thing? Central heating kicking in? Yes, it is definitely Autumn.

But while the temperatures are dropping slightly, the clear days are providing perfect opportunities for Correspondent readers to get out and capture Tameside.

As ever, this month saw much thinking and debating over which photos would make the cut.

However, Star Image goes to Izabela Kulik for her snap showing the war memorial at Werneth Low, plus a tree next to it, in silhouette with a cloud inversion leaving them below the top of the hill.

Clouds also provided Mark Healey with a fantastic shot of them skirting the Mossley valley while the sun, which has been most welcome, allowed Hazel Greatorex Ripley, John Taylor, Spike Hammond and Jayne Bradbury to make quality submissions.

It also allowed people to get out with their animals, as Adrian Loader’s shot of his dog enjoying the conditions showed.

Sunlight, or at least some poking through, also gave the great contrast captured by Paul McCarthy at Roe Cross.

Not all great pictures can be done outside, though, and Gary Taylor’s image from inside Ashton’s St Michael’s Church was just too good to ignore.
