Brassic brilliance in Ashton

KEEN eyed TV viewers may have spotted some familiar landmarks as Sky comedy Brassic returned to our screens.

For Ashton found itself the centre of filming the show once again.The town centre was used as a backdrop for scenes in the popular programme and some characters extended beyond the rolling of the cameras.

For actor Steve Evets could not resist staying in his role as Jim – who is not averse to making his feelings known – for The Correspondent.

Brassic, which also stars Joseph Gilgun as Vinnie O’Neil and Michelle Keegan as Erin Croft, has used locations around the town before, with a house in the Hazelhurst area featuring prominently as Erin’s home.

Season Five of the show is already being filmed and a number of other locations nearby are used.


Ten fiction al town of Hawley is in fact Bacup in Lancashire, while Manchester’s Star and Garter pub features heavily as where the main characters drink.

Doctor’s surgery scenes are filmed on the Frederick Road Campus of Salford University, while the caravan site Ash lives on is also in Manchester – in a car park not far from Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
