MEMBERS of Rotary Clubs around Tameside were treated to a special audience as they heard what those in Kyiv are still managing to do.
Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary was joined by Tameside Rotary on Thursday, September 15 for a Zoom call from war torn Ukraine.
Oksana Tjupa, charter president of International Rotary of Kyiv, spoke of their work in fundraising and building shelters for displaced people.

They have also been purchasing items and white goods, among other things, that have assisted more than 5,000 people since the Russian invasion.
Now they are helping people find jobs.
More than one million people in Ukraine were left without a home when the war started, a number of refugees have now settled in Tameside.
And Rotary members heard how that when the conflict ends, the shelters that have been created will be used for the most vulnerable people, such as women with children who are suffering from domestic violence.
They also received a defiant message as Oksana said: “We strongly believe in our victory.
“We have been well supported from people around the world and Boris Johnson visited us three times. We are very hopeful.
“We will win very soon and this makes us very happy. We are coming to the victory.”
Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary members were joined by those from Tameside Rotary as they will be getting on board with them to support the project in Kyiv.
