Let’s dance Word on the street is watch out for our Lilly

TALENTED Lilly Duckworth is only 10 but already has the world at her feet.

The Mossley youngster is one of the UK’s top street dancers for her age.

Lilly’s dancing skills have already led to a stage debut and an audition offer for a film role.

And while proud mum, Terri-Ann Duckworth, tries to keep her active daughter’s feet on the ground, she is happy to encourage Lilly’s artistic abilities.

“It’s funny but her friends have no idea what Lilly does out of school,” says Terri-Ann. “But she is always on the go.

All smiles-Lily with trophy

“Through her dancing, she knows kids all over England. And now she is classed as an advanced dancer we are usually taking her somewhere.

“She always danced round the house when younger, probably more so than other kids. It just grew from there.”

However, Lilly really enjoyed lift-off when the family discovered Fierce Dance and Gymnastics based in Oldham.

Mentored by Jen Lynch, Fierce owner and former world championship winning choreographer and gym instructor, Lilly’s natural ability was enhanced, resulting in her regular competition successes.

She trains three times a week, including all day on Saturdays. “People perhaps think doing hip hop and street dance might not lead to much. But probably the majority of dancers in the West End have a hip hop background,” added Terri-Ann.

“A lot of the friends Lilly has met already dance in the West End.” There’s no agent yet for lively Lilly, who attends school in Saddleworth and who recently was an ensemble member for Shaw Playhouse Theatre’s production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda.

But there are regular offers of auditions including one for a film. “But it would have meant travelling to France which is probably too much at this stage for her. Maybe though in the future she will audition for bigger roles.”
