TAMESIDE’S Citizens Advice Bureau has received a five-figure boost to support a
three-year project offering accessible advice to people living in the borough.
Jigsaw Homes has donated £83,790, which has helped set up several free advice services at the Women and Children’s Centre in Ashton’s Cavendish Mill and at the Dukinfield Community Hub.
Those go alongside the pre-established services at Acresfield Community Hub in Hyde and the Haughton Green Centre in Denton.
Citizen’s Advice Bureau provides a range of advice services covering topics from welfare benefits, employment opportunities, healthcare, education and family advice.
Drop-in sessions take place at each designated location either once a week or every other week, providing face to face meetings and follow up phone calls with existing clients.
The service will also work with the Jigsaw Homes Neighbourhood Engagement Team to ensure Jigsaw’s residents are able to easily access the service.
And the money – awarded by Jigsaw Foundation, a community fund that supports local projects and organisations aiming to make a positive difference to Jigsaw’s communities – has been well received.
Nigel Morgan, Chief Officer at Tameside Citizens Advice Bureau, said “Thanks to funding from Jigsaw Foundation, we can get out into the local community and give vital advice through our convenient face-to-face sessions.
“We hope to provide lots of support to those in need over the next three years and we also want to encourage local people to volunteer with us and make a real impact to residents throughout Tameside who may be struggling.”
Sarah Keenan, Jigsaw Foundation Manager, added: “Jigsaw Homes is proud so support and provide such a significant amount of funding to the Tameside Citizens Advice Bureau and we are confident they will make a much-needed difference to our resident’s lives and within their communities.”
