Queen means much to children

SCHOLCHILDREN may be much younger than many of those experiencing a change of monarch for the first time in their life – but The Queen meant just as much.

Jessica, Rebecca and Link Beswick showed just how as they awaited the proclamation of King Charles III.

Turning up with mum Emma, 34, to the ceremony on Sunday, September 11, they made their own tribute by laying flowers on a bench outside Dukinfield Town Hall.

And the Dukinfield family told The Correspondent just what Her Majesty meant to them, even though they are still in their tender years.

Six-year-old Link, who attends Lyndhurst Primary in Dukinfield, summed it up by saying Queen Elizabeth, ‘stood for hope, love and respect.’

Rebecca, 14, who goes to Hyde High School with her 12-year-old sister, said: “She was an inspiration to a lot of people and paved the way for a lot of women during a difficult time.

“I was in London recently but after seeing the scenes there, I think about it a lot differently.

“I thought Buckingham Place was just a big building but it isn’t to me now.”

Emma added: “It’s a big thing in history. The children are going to see a whole new era. Hopefully, the King is going to be on the throne for most of their life.”
