AN AUDENSHAW primary school has been allowed to extend its playground, despite concerns from nearby residents.
Aldwyn, which stands on Lumb Lane, has been told it can make its current facility bigger, across what was a road used by construction vehicles during work to extend tits building.
Fencing will also be moved to take in the new surface.

And Tameside Council granted the school permission to enlarge its playground, even though three people in the 12 neighbouring properties that were written to voiced concerns.
Their main reason to object was noise and disturbance caused by the use of the playing fields and pitches on the grass playing fields being too close to houses and result in balls entering gardens, causing nuisance, disturbance and hazards.
However, in its application form, the case for doing it was put forward as it said: “The portion of the playing fields that the proposed playground will occupy has most recently been used as a temporary haul road to facilitate the construction of a previous extension to the school.
“Completion of the proposals will make good this area and realign the internal boundary between the playground area and the sports fields.”
A report done by Tameside Council into the plan found, ‘no existing playing fields would be lost.
The extended playground would compensate for the loss of playground areas due to the development of extensions to the school buildings.’
It added: “The playground extension is intended is to improve facilities not to facilitate an increase in the number of pupils and staff attending the school therefore there would be no traffic impact once construction is completed.
“The extended playground would not encroach any closer to existing houses than does the existing.”
And Tameside Council gave Aldwyn the go ahead in an executive decision made by its interim director of place, Nick Fenwick.
