All aboard for culture event

IT was all aboard the 218 bus to travel back to 1966/7 for a special fundraising event in Stalybridge.

Fit Over Fifty held the event at The Old Thirteenth Cheshire Astley Volunteer Rifleman Corps Inn on August 20 to celebrate Stalybridge’s Town of Culture accolade.

All were welcome to come along to enjoy the culture from the swinging 60s, specifically 1966 and 1967 and the summer of love, with music provided free of charge by Real Rock Radio.

There was also food, drink and fancy dress enjoyed by guests including the Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Mike Glover and Cllr Sangita Patel.

Tony, manager at Fit over Fifty, said: “This event aimed to boost community engagement and guests took a trip down memory lane with memorabilia, music, archive footage and everyday objects.”
