ANOTHER familiar high street name will be disappearing from Hyde’s Clarendon Square Shopping Centre after B&M Bargains announced the closure of its store.
August 20 will see the unit, in the corner of the mall, close its doors for the final time, with staff putting the decision down to the fact it is losing money.
It is another blow to the town, which is at the centre of a regeneration project aimed to revitalise what was a once bustling area.
And the news has been greeted with dismay by some shoppers, some of whom wondered if there would be anything left eventually.
B&M is not disappearing from Hyde completely as it has a larger store at the nearby retail park on Manchester Road.
But seeing another unit in Clarendon Square become empty is a sign of the size of the job in front of those looking to rejuvenate the town.
