Sushi says Yo! to Stalybridge

FOOD retail giant Yo! Sushi is to open a counter in Stalybridge after it was closed.

The space in the town’s Tesco supermarket opened up as the company streamlined its operating costs.

But The Correspondent understands it will be occupied by the popular chain.

Yo! Sushi already has kiosks in six Tesco supermarkets in Greater Manchester but the impending arrival in Stalybridge is seen as a boost.

In the 25 years since it was formed, the brand has become a familiar name on high streets after first opening in 1997 in London’s Soho.

And in 2002, it opened its first restaurant outside of London by setting up in Manchester’s Selfridge’s store.

In 2019, Tesco announced the cold deli counter in Stalybridge would close completely, while its fish, meat and hot deli counters will operate on a part-time basis.

It is not yet known when Yo! Sushi will set up at the town centre store.
