HUNDREDS of people descended on Stalybridge’s Cheetham Park as it stayed reasonably dry for the return of the Spring Show.
Children enjoyed fairground rides, ice cream and candy floss while there were plenty of attractions for adults, with community groups and organisations manning stalls.
Pupils of Stalybridge’s Sarah England School of Dance showed off their skills on a five metre high maypole, while dog owners were allowed to show their competitive streak with a show.
And the success of the show will help make the Carnival Weekend on June 25 and 26 better after its coffers were boosted.
Spring Show organiser Ian Cochrane said: “I would like to say a big thank you to the volunteers from Stalybridge Festival Committee and everyone who turned up to our very successful Spring Show which helped to raise valuable funds towards this year’s carnival.
“Arrangements for Stalybridge Carnival Weekend are at an advanced stage, with the carnival parade starting at 1pm on the Sunday.
“We are so looking forward to the carnival returning after the disappointment of having to cancel the event for the last two years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.”
