NEW life-saving equipment is now in place at Richmond Street Community Centre in Ashton for use by the public in case of emergencies.
The defibrillator, which gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest, has been mounted in the centre.
It was officially unveiled with a dedication service attended by the Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Janet Cooper and her consort Dennis Fitzpatrick.

The Mayor said she was very pleased the life-saving defibrillator has been fitted and thanked all those who contributed to the fundraising and fitting.
Contributors included Place of Welcome, W+S Electrical Solutions, 12th Ashton Scout Group, RSCC, The Good Shepherd Church Group and Cllr Vimal Choksi.
Joy Foster, a member of Place of Welcome, said: “It was great to have been able to raise the funds so quickly following a talk the group had from Mark Rumney about CPR and defibrillators.”
Users of the centre are being invited to attend a training session to let them know how to use the defibrillator.
