TWO Stalybridge nurses and one team based in the town are basking in the glow of glory after winning prestigious awards.
Cathryn Butterworth and Laura Lyons walked away with individual honours at the Greater Manchester Primary Care Nurse Awards.
The former, a health care support worker at Lockside Medical Centre, on Huddersfield Road, won the Best Health Care Support Worker of the Year award.
This acknowledged her as an extremely valuable member of the nursing team for her work within the primary care setting.
And Laura, a nurse at Grosvenor Medical Centre, on Grosvenor Street, walked away with the Inspirational Nurse Leader Award.
This recognised her as someone who developed initiatives to ensure her practice or practice team was celebrated and raised the profile of primary care nursing.
And the practice nursing team at Staveleigh Medical Centre, on King Street, won the Innovative Nursing Team Award.
Emma Gaffney, health care assistant at Grosvenor Medical Centre, was nominated for a Health Care Support Worker of the Year award.

This award acknowledged the vital contribution their practice nursing team provides in primary care, for consistently delivering confident contemporary care and who consistently perform above what is considered as the ‘norm’ for their peer group.
The wards capped a successful night for Tameside’s healthcare professionals as they came runner-up in two other categories, with 19 nominations made in total.
Steven Pleasant, chief executive of Tameside Council and the accountable officer at Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Well done to everyone who was nominated, especially those who were recognised and won an award.

“But I know the real winner here is Tameside and its residents who have the services of such committed and dedicated nursing staff who we know are the best.”
