Trailer to be turned into café?

A SHIPPING container will be converted into a café if planning permission is granted.

Ellen Taylor wants to turn the structure on the Stockport Road side of Hyde’s Redfern Industrial Estate into a place where people can buy and eat food.

The container earmarked to be turned into a cafe if approved at Tameside Council speakers’ panel

The insistence is it will be for a temporary period of time but the proposed opening hours are from 7am until 10pm from Monday to Friday, 8am until 11pm on Saturday and 9am until 10pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

In her application, Ellen states: “We will fully convert the container by installing windows and fitting a small kitchen with a small seating area.

“We will be serving hot and cold drinks and small plates and snacks.

“Customers must enter the cafe to order it will not be from a hatch. This will be a permanently portable container.”

Currently the container, which is less than two-and-a-half metres wide, is used for storage but Ellen hopes to incorporate a pizza oven, a coffee machine, a toastie press and fridges among her conversion.

It would also have three double glazed windows if permission is granted by Tameside Council’s Speakers Panel (Planning) committee.
