Bar shows its charitable side

A STALYBRIDGE bar has showed its willingness to help its local community by donating hundreds of pounds towards helping the homeless.

Bosses at Zeros on Market Street gave £900 raised in a bucket collection held at the venue’s door to the We Shall Overcome scheme set up by Pauline Town MBE.

And this month, the chosen cause has been nearby Cancer Warriors.

Owner of Zeros, Councillor Sam Gosling, explained why Pauline – after whom Ashton’s Town House is named – was the first recipient.

He said: “We decided to do something different – 50 per cent of the collection goes to charity, 50 per cent pays towards the music.

“It’s a suggested donation, no-one’s forced to do it.

“But because of the work Pauline does with We Shall Overcome – no-one does more for people in Tameside than her – we decided to donate the whole amount instead of going 50/50.”
