All aboard the vaccine bus!

TAMESIDE  residents yet to have their Covid jab are invited to get on board a state-of-the-art vaccination bus.

The Tameside and Glossop Vaccination Bus will be touring the area over the next three months to make it easier than ever to grab a jab.

It will be parked up at key locations for a set period of time and anyone eligible for their first or second dose can step on board and be vaccinated there and then.

Dates and destinations will be posted on www.tameside.gov.uk/covidvaccine as well as on social media. Or If you can’t access the website then our dedicated local helpline has all the latest vaccine information by calling 0161 368 5426.

The bus has already made its first stop at Stalybridge Street Feast on Friday (8).

The 12.5 metre single-deck coach has been kitted out to provide four vaccination booths. A Covid-secure one-way system is in place and wheelchair lift access is available. Health professionals are available if anyone wishes to discuss their vaccination or has concerns.

NHS Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Co-chairmen Dr Asad Ali and Dr Ashwin Ramachandra said: “We are thrilled that the latest phase of our vaccination programme is underway. Having the vaccination bus directly in the streets of our communities is important to make sure everyone can get a jab and there is the potential for us to take the bus to wherever we feel it might be needed.

“We’d urge everyone to have their vaccination. Every single vaccine helps protect you and others and reduces transmission and the risk of variants, stopping the spread of coronavirus and helping keep us on the road to normality.”

Cllr Eleanor Wills

Tameside Council Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Population Health, Councillor Eleanor Wills, said: “I’m delighted that the Tameside and Glossop Vaccination Bus will be touring the area to deliver vaccinations to where people will be out and about, making it easy, quick and simple for our residents to get their life-saving jab.

“We have all pulled together as a borough and made great progress with the vaccination programme, so let’s keep going and get as many people vaccinated as possible. It’s never too late to get your jab. If you’ve not had yours yet then look out for the Vaccination Bus – it could be coming to a street, community venue or place of worship near you soon – and get on board to get your life-saving jab.”
